YOUR DONATION MATTERS!
Natural disasters, conflicts and oppression are responsible for the wretched existence of many millions of people. HEKS can mediate opportunities, fund further education or help them to get started in order to gain or regain their dignity.
Where it is needed most
A donation of 1200 Swiss Francs, for example, can finance a health post in the remote mountain region of Bangladesh for one year, paying the wages of the Barefoot Doctor.
Humanitarian aid/emergency aid
A donation of 50 Swiss Francs, for example, will enable a starving person in Ethiopia to survive for three months. 11 million people are affected by famine.
Development of rural communities
A donation of 30 Swiss Francs, for example, is enough to enable a smallholder to buy a goat. She can feed her children with the milk and fertilise the land with the manure. She can earn a bit of money by selling the young kids and use it for urgently needed purchases, such as clothes, shoes, household appliances and gardening tools.
Promotion of peace and conflict resolution
Sports teams of boys and girls can be formed and kitted out in three villages in Colombia with a donation of 360 Swiss Francs, for example. Having grown up around war and violence, they long for open space and freedom conducive to their healthy development. Sport is an outlet for their energy and emotions, teaching them fairness and respect and giving them a zest for life.
Interchurch aid
A donation of 2000 Swiss Francs, for example, will enable a Roma family in Serbia to fit out their shack with the most basic sanitary facilities and electrical installations. For the majority of Roma people housing conditions are dire, access to state schools is difficult, and they have precious few job prospects.
Social integration in Switzerland
A donation of 200 Swiss Francs, for example, will pay for a migrant or a non-native to attend a German conversation course. The course is a useful introduction to our language and imparts important information for integration in Switzerland.
Advocacy for socially disadvantaged people in Switzerland
A donation of 600 Swiss Francs, for example, will fund an appeal process for an asylum seeker faced with a negative asylum ruling. HEKS will assess the asylum seeker’s options and write an appeal if there is any prospect of success. Seven out of ten asylum seekers are not able to pay the costs of an appeal.
We are grateful for every donation. Please indicate how you would like your donation to be used and send it to:
